laugh. play. learn.
At Wesbrook, parents play an important role as partners in creating a supportive and enriched educational environment. Through these goals and beliefs, we can help children build a solid foundation for the future.
Beliefs that guide our teaching:
• Preschoolers are continuously on the move, exploring their world with high spirits and a never ending supply of energy. A child’s ability to learn at this age is immense and we believe that children need many different ways to express themselves and a lot of opportunities to do so. (Reggio Emilia).
• Children learn through active involvement in play using all of their senses. Every child is creative, curious, powerful, competent and full of potential.
• Learning should be a natural, rewarding and fun experience. It should be based on children’s interests and developmental patterns.
• Parents are an essential resource for a child’s learning. Collaboration between teachers and parents is key in creating a positive, supportive and enriched educational environment for our children.
• In demonstrating respect, basic values, and manners to children, we teach them to respect themselves, their peers and others. This fosters positive interactive relationships among children, parents, teachers and the community.
Established in 1955, Wesbrook Preschool is proud of its history of providing safe, quality care for young children in West Point Grey and the surrounding neighborhoods. Wesbrook is a parent involvement preschool where children – at an individual pace – learn and develop through play, while parents learn and grow in their abilities to be child educators at home, school, and in their community.
Wesbrook Preschool acknowledges the financial support of the Province of British Columbia and fundraising organized by parents.
When you say farewell to your son or daughter at the door of their first preschool Classroom, it’s the beginning of so many lessons, so many transitions and new rhythms. It can feel vulnerable and uncertain but our experience at Wesbrook was a blessing and a gift. Adam and I will miss the sense of community we feel at Wesbrook with the other parents, the teachersand the children alike; it has been the most wonderful place for our family. We’ll always hold our best wishes for the children we had pleasure spending time with, and for Jasmina and Elizabeth whose generosity knows no bounds.Kristen & Adam, Sammy’s parents
The community, teachers, parents, children- all are like extended family that are really there for each other. We feel very lucky to have been a part of Wesbrook Family for both of our children!

Being a part of Wesbrook Preschool made me learn a lot about my son Jason.
The speakers at the parent education meetings were very beneficial and we made some great friendships. Thank you Jasmina and Elizabeth for keeping Jason safe, happy and comfortable in the preschoolOlga, Jason’s mom
Luckily we don’t have to say good bye yet! I love how preschool is an extension of our home – it’s our second home!Melissa; Victoria, Thomas, and Georgia’s mom
My heart drops when I think we (yes “WE”) will be graduating from Wesbrook after five years. Thank you Jasmina and Elizabeth for everything you have done to help Alex and Isabel grow as creative, thoughtful and confident people.Meredith, Isabel’s mom
At Wesbrook Preschool there are many opportunities for children to explore their creativity. They can enjoy spending time in the “Open Art Room” where they can choose various mediums and materials to work with. In addition to that, every day teachers set up 2 open ended art activities that may be related to the topics children are interested in. |
For the past 8 years, every Tuesday Music Teacher Debra has come to spend time with the children. There is singing, dancing and playing on many different instruments. Children also enjoy music and movement through ABC Kinder music program with Teacher Jasmina . |
We are very fortunate to have gym area in the classroom. Climber/slide, balancing beams, jumping tire, rocking boat and cars are just a few pieces of equipment available at all times for the children to enjoy inside the classroom. When outside children get to ride trikes, play soccer and enjoy Trimble playground just across from our school. During the winter period we organize regular field trips to UBC gym. |
