Program Information
To register for our 3 & 4’s class, children must be 3 years of age before December 31st of that school year. This is a combined class for 3 and 4 year olds.
- 8:30 – 12:30 am Monday – Friday (4 hours a day / 5 days a week)
- Gradual Entry in September to help children become comfortable in their new surroundings
- Parents provide a nut-free snack box and water bottle for their children

We are proud to offer a space for children to gain rich experiences in all areas of early development in a safe and supportive environment. At Wesbrook, we recognize that every child is unique and learns and grows at the pace that is right for them. Our program is flexible and based on the needs of the children.
Our program at Wesbrook Preschool is based on a balance of:
- big muscle play and quiet activities
- child-led and adult-guided activities
- indoor and outdoor activities

Our teachers plan activities for the children as well as facilitate spontaneous learning through play so that the children can validate new ideas, expand their knowledge, and practice problem solving. The room is set up every morning with play invitations that the children are welcome to explore at any point throughout the preschool day. It is our intention to facilitate child-led learning in which children can take ownership of their space and in which every child feels welcome.
Children are encouraged to listen to their bodies and follow their own rhythms. We have a group snack time in the middle of the day, but children are welcome to eat their snack at the snack table at any point during the morning if they are hungry. Parents provide a nut-free snack-box and water bottle for their children.
Our classroom includes an art area, a light table, a sand table, a quiet area (with books and stuffies), a puzzle and building area, a cars and vehicle area, a play kitchen and a gross motor/climbing area, in addition to many other play invitations. Through careful observation, teachers plan the learning activities based on interests and themes children are working on in the classroom. An idea can capture their curiosity for a few days or sometimes extend over the course of a month or more. Our curriculum is constantly evolving and builds on children’s interests, strengths and needs, supporting their social-emotional growth and helping them learn what it means to be a part of a group.

Starting in October, once children are familiar with the teachers and environment, we go on regular field trips. These can include a visit to the local fire station, the library, the pumpkin patch or the Children’s Festival at Granville Island.

At Wesbrook Preschool, we prioritize community engagement and whole family involvement. We regularly invite families to join us for classroom celebrations and organize evening events to foster a strong sense of community. We also try to incorporate seasonal and cultural topics where we encourage whole family involvement. At Wesbrook Preschool, we have an expectation of family participation because we recognize the valuable impact it has on a child’s holistic development. Join us as we create a collaborative and supportive community for your child and your family.
